Wow, what a great day for photos. I had to go out on the boat to change the batteries on our penguin experiment on the little 30km far away island called Lilihuapi. I just love being alone on the boat. You can stop when ever you want
And today it was really worth it. I stopped twice to check out what some gulls were doing. And on both occasions they were trying to get a large fish that was swimming on the surface. One of them was a “jurel”. The one on the way back was a “congrio”. I managed to get both on the boat. And we just had them for Dinner
On top of that I had some great photo opportunities.
I’ve been following these guys for a while, only with less convincing results. But today they were busy feeding and the light was good.
Giant Southern Petrel (Macronectes giganteus)
Then there was this guy here. Had never seen them around. It’s a Chilean Skua (Stercorarius chilensis).
A Canquén or Ashy Headed Goose (Chloephaga poliocephala)
A Magellanic Penguin (Spheniscus spheniscus)
And last but not least one of my favorite shots! The lile, or Red-Legged Cormorant (Phalacrocorax gaimardi). You have to view that one in large!
